A Certificate II in Food Processing is a great stepping stone into a long term career in one of Australia’s largest industries – Food Production.

During the course you will learn the basic skills and knowledge required to work as a member of a production team in a food processing facility. You will gain an understanding of food hygiene and general food production methodologies.

Qualification Description

This qualification describes the skills and knowledge for food processing workers employed in the following sectors:

    • baking (including large scale production of cakes, pastry, bread, biscuits and plant baking)
    • confectionery
    • fruit and vegetables
    • grocery products and supplies (including honey, jams, spreads, sauces, dressings, condiments, spices, edible oils and fats and pasta)

This qualification is designed for application in supervised environments where the work is predictable with some basic problem solving requirements. All work must be carried out to comply with workplace procedures, in accordance with State/Territory food safety, work health and safety and environmental codes, regulations and legislation that apply to the workplace.

No occupational licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

Pre-requisites and Entry Requirements

There are no Pre-requisites for this qualification.

This course is not currently available to international students.

Duration

This course is delivered as an on-the-job traineeship over a typical duration of 12 months. Student will be allowed up to 2 years to complete depending on individual circumstance.

Students will participate in 1 full day classroom session and 1 full day in the workplace, undergoing supervised practical skills development, in line with the sign Training Plan.

Pathways

Once completed, students who complete this qualification may continue on to further study by undertaking FBP30121 Certificate III in Food Processing or a pathway to employment as Food Processing Workers in the following sectors:
